Men’s shoes artigiano


After having successfully completed the Apprentice level, students will upgrade and practice the skills acquired from the first module. During the full path students will gain the ability to manufacture a pair of men’s shoes. Classes meet Monday through Friday with both morning and afternoon sessions.

“Artigiano”, level consists of a semester long path of intensive study, practice and work that can lead to the “Maestro” level. Some students are entitled to access the final part of this level only if they have completed the previous levels of study with Stefano Bemer or to applicants in the field who have a solid foundation and experience. Instructors are all professionals in the field who will impart both their theoretical and practical abilities as well as their real world experience as shoemakers. The 2021 Training Program will be directed and supervised by Mrs. Masako Bando, who apprenticed for 14 years with Maestro Stefano Bemer and has been directing the training program since 2013.

what you need to know

Total price of the Artigiano level course is 13800 €. This semester-long course includes the apprentice level. Fees include: all class work, lessons, use of laboratories, basic materials, taxes and insurance. An early bird discount of 10% is available, ask our admission staff to know more about it. Italian students have a 20% discount with no deadlines.

Not included: accommodation and meals, airfare, airport transfer and meals, extra materials, particular equipment requested for the personal project (peculiar wooden lasts or materials).

A pre-enrollment is necessary with a deposit of 3500€ at the moment of the signing up. The deposit will be refunded if the application is not accepted or Visa is not granted. After enrollment is accepted, the deposit will not be refunded in case the student decides not to attend.

In addition there is also the Workshop Practicum where students will spend 160 hours. *Indication of hours per class (per subject) is merely indicative.
Structure and Method
The “Artigiano” level programs aims to complete and enhance the knowledge acquired during the Apprentice level and providing the skills for being able to produce a Stefano Bemer style pair of shoes. Students that will complete this module will be ready to become independent shoemakers. Students will also engage with design and branding elements, essential to developing a personal path in this industry.
During this program students will also attend some special theoretical modules such as:
History of fashion
This module traces the history of Italian and western fashion from the mid-18th century to the present day. Delivered through lectures, screenings and visits, the course introduces students to understanding fashion as a social and cultural phenomenon through the examination, exploration and consideration of creativity, context and archiving.
Photography Lab
This module will provide the basic skills for taking still life pictures of accessories and allow students to gain enough skills to create images for press and digital media.
Design and branding elements
Students will learn the basic concepts of design approach related to leather products. Elements of Branding will drive students to be able to have an overall view on the potential of their product and brand.
Working Practicum
Students will work in a professional workshop (free workshop) practicing and perfecting the use of tools and techniques learned during the Apprentice module. The final project is the production of a Stefano Bemer style pair of shoes. Students which will complete this module will be ready to become independent shoemakers.
