Vintage Fashion & Upcycling
Vintage Fashion & Upcycling is an immersive 6-credit hands-on course rooted in Florence, where contemporary fashion meets sustainability and creative experimentation.
Through vintage garments, upcycling practices, and studio work, students explore slow fashion as a conscious approach connecting craftsmanship, innovation, and personal expression.
Set near Santo Spirito, in the heart of Florence, the course immerses participants in a vibrant creative ecosystem where fashion, culture, and sustainable thinking coexist.
The Course
The Vintage Fashion & Upcycling course explores fashion as a process of reinterpretation, where existing garments become the starting point for new ideas, aesthetics, and forms of expression.
The program combines fashion culture, visual research, and hands-on practice within an experimental studio environment.
Participants learn to observe, deconstruct, modify, and reimagine vintage clothing through a contemporary perspective, developing an approach that values process, uniqueness, and material awareness.

Through creative exercises and practical workshops, students engage with fashion as an evolving dialogue between past references and present sensibilities.
Surrounded by Florence’s artisanal and cultural atmosphere, the course invites participants to slow down, observe, and develop a personal relationship with garments, materials, and making.
Through experimentation, transformation, and shared studio practice, students explore fashion as a living language where memory, identity, and contemporary culture intersect.

Final Project
Throughout the program, participants develop a final project, translating their research, intuition, and creative process into an original upcycled garment.
From the first material explorations to the final construction, each student works with vintage garments and hands-on studio techniques to produce a finished piece that reflects their creative choices, material sensibility, and individual relationship with fashion as a living, transformative practice.
