Fashion
A garment lives in the gesture of the hand, in the logic of a seam, in the decision of a line drawn on pattern paper. At SCHOLA, fashion is not studied, it is made.
The Fashion Making department offers a modular technical pathway in contemporary garment construction and pattern making, rooted in craft practice, material awareness and design thinking. Students learn by doing, in an atelier environment that values precision, experimentation and the Intelligence of the Hands.

Fashion Making Master Program
Design collections, master pattern making and draping, develop sustainable practices. Combine technical skills, vision and professional mentorship.

Womenswear Patternmaking Course
Develop patterns, understand the principles of fit and proportions, work with fabrics and materials through a craft-based approach.

Draping and Textile Experimentation
Explore draping on the mannequin as a design tool. Work with fabrics and forms, experimenting with natural dyeing and surface research.

Menswear Patternmaking Course
Engage with the structural logic of menswear, developing technical pattern making skills through direct workshop practice.

Collection Development
Develop your personal fashion collection from concept to finished garments. Translate material research and technical knowledge into your design.
The department is structured around four focused modules – Womenswear Pattern Making, Draping & Textile Experimentation, Menswear Pattern Making and Collection Development – each 10 weeks long and available as a standalone course, or combinable to build a longer, more advanced learning path: two modules (20 weeks) or three modules (30 weeks).
For students seeking a full one-year immersive program, SCHOLA offers the Fashion Making Master Program, a 40-week professional pathway that integrates all four modules, including a dedicated final collection and portfolio development phase.
Whether you’re looking for a focused short course in pattern making and dressmaking, a sewing and pattern making course, or a complete year studying fashion in Italy, our programs are designed to meet you where you are.
SCHOLA is not a traditional fashion school. It is a contemporary craft atelier in Florence, dedicated to hands-on fashion making, pattern making and dressmaking, open to students from across the world.
